Cacao has been cultivated for hundreds, perhaps thousands, of
years. Beans from the large pods that grow directly from the cacao
tree trunk, called cocoa beans, are the primary ingredient in chocolate.
Each property owner will be required to plant at least four cacao
trees (or other designated tropical fruit trees) as part of the
Kealanani landscaping plan. While owners will develop and initiate
their own agricultural plans, cacao planting will serve as a starting
point for an expanded cacao operation involving all owners.
Planting approximately 2,000 cacao trees throughout the project
will create the basis of this third agricultural venture.
